Told in flashback by the housekeeper Ellen Dean to a traveler, Lockwood, who believes he has seen a ghost. Story taken largely from the first half of Bront�'s novel. Won Oscar for Best Cinematography; received 7 additional nominations including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actress and Best Screenplay. Entered 2007 into the National Film Registry.
