REVIEWS

Review by GEORGE LEVY (posted on 5-Aug-2007)

Rakel Welsh stole the movie by just playing herself, all body and no talent. She proved a delight in smashing up the world with her comic attempts at acting, and epitomized the proverbial Sherman tank in a china shop. This contrasted sharply with the somber role of the pox ridden musketeer Reed, doomed to kill off his lost love, and beautifully underplaying the role of a world weary warrior from another century. York did his usual talented skits in moving the action along to its inevitable story book ending. Also, the excellent 17th century settings and costumes make you want to see the epic over again.
