Tigerland (13-Sep-2000)

Director: Joel Schumacher Writers: Ross Klavan; Michael McGruther Keywords: Drama, Vietnam War, Infantry War drama follows a number of recruits training for combat in Vietnam at Louisiana's infamous Fort Polk.
ABSTRACT Roland Bozz is a reluctant draftee, arriving at the Advanced Infantry Training Facility in Fort Polk, Louisiana -- home to an infamous Vietnam-esque swamp known as Tigerland -- in 1971 to begin an intense spell of training before shipping off to Vietnam. Roland, an intelligent troublemaker, does not want to fight; his acts of insubordination, however, are interpreted as signs pointing to a promising future as a leader by his commanding officers. The platoon's final week, spent in Tigerland, sees tensions within the group rising to a breaking point as the recruits face their own mortality and, in some cases, succumb to mental illness.
