ABSTRACT
George, a gifted artist and high school senior, possesses a fatalistic outlook on life that sees him places on academic probation after it manifests itself as a refusal to complete his schoolwork. When he begins to form a friendship with popular classmate Sally after noticing her smoking on their school's roof, however, he finds his view on life altered as they recognize a kindred spirit in each other and begin to grow closer and closer together.
