Adventures of Don Juan (1-Dec-1948)

Director: Vincent Sherman

Writers: George Oppenheimer; Harry Kurnitz; Herbert Dalmas

Music by: Max Steiner

Producer: Jerry Wald

Keywords: Action/Adventure, Swashbuckling

Amidst scandal, legendary lover Don Juan is thrown out of England and forced to rehabilitate in his native Spain, where he becomes head of the fencing school at the Spanish Academy. The daft King Phillip III and his Queen Margaret are victims of one of the ministers, the treacherous Duke de Lorca, who has out-maneuvered the king and intends to become puppetmaster as he declares war on England. Don Juan, despite his rash profession to the Queen of inappropriate love for her, rallies in loyal defense of the monarchy. One of Flynn's best roles, though performed poorly at the box office. Won Oscars for Best Costume Design and Best Set Decoration.
