The Happy Thieves (Jan-1962)

Director: George E. Marshall

Writer: John Gay

From novel: The Oldest Confession by Richard Condon

Music Composed and Conducted by: Mario Nascimbene

Keywords: Crime/Comedy, Art Theft, Bullfighting

After he steals a Velzquez painting from a castle, gentleman art thief Jim Bourne is blackmailed by Dr. Muoz, who uses evidence of the theft to force Bourne and his co-conspirator and now-wife Eve to steal a much more prominent painting, Goya's "Second of May", from the Prado. Elaborate and generally lifeless caper, saved only somewhat by its star power.
